3 Highlights From Micheal Singer's "Untethered Soul" on How To Live Free From Negative Thoughts and Emotions

"Our experience of reality is defined by our thoughts, emotions and beliefs"

If we would only realise the profoundness of this statement.

I’ve listened to audiobook "The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself" by Micheal Singer. I love how he explains the concepts of spiritual liberation, that are hard to grasp with the mind, but he helps you go beyond the mind.

He aims to help us understand our true nature and how we can live a life free from negative thoughts, emotions, and limiting beliefs.

3 highlights of the book:

1. Observe your thoughts objectively, without judgment

This means becoming aware of your thoughts and feelings, without getting caught up in them or judging yourself for having them.

By observing your thoughts objectively, you can gain a deeper understanding of your mental and emotional patterns and begin to separate yourself from them.

When you are able to observe, you aren't caught up in the thoughts.

2. Explore the idea that you are not your thoughts or emotions

And they are not your identity.

Actively exploring the origin of thoughts and emotions will help you understand that you are not defined by them. Practice self-inquiry by taking the time to reflect on your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.

You will gain a deeper understanding of who you are.

3. Embrace the impermanence of all things, including emotions

Recognise that everything is temporary.

You can learn to release attachment and allow emotions to pass, by realising they are only temporary. They are simply experiences that come and go. This will reduce stress and improve your ability to handle difficult emotional situations.

A greater sense of peace and freedom will be the result of having more control over your thoughts and emotions.

"There is nothing more important to true growth than realizing that you are not the voice of the mind - you are the one who hears it." - Michael A. Singer
